Quba Mosque in the 1980's

Quba mosque is the first public mosque built by the prophet ﷺ himself. He would visit it every Saturday and visit Banu Awf. The tribe that lived in the area. Knowing that the Muhajirin longed for Makkah, the prophet said that praying in Quba is like performing an Umrah.

This video shows the two Awas houses that the prophet ﷺ stayed in when he arrived in Madinah. The house of Kalthoum bin Hadm and the house of Saad bin Khaythma رضي الله عنه. Kalthoum رضي الله عنه was an older man with a family. The prophet sept and ate in his house. He built Quba mosque on his property. Saad رضي الله عنهwas a young unmarried man. The prophet ﷺ received guests at his house. Both houses were preserved and respected for over a millennium. The videos shows old photos with red circles. With recent expansion both were demolished with no markings. Kalthoum house was under a sign that is shown in the video. Saad house is below the minaret.

The well of Arees (Uthman) had a fountain recently but now is buried and tiled over. It is between the walkway to Quba and the mosque.
